BERGEN COUNTY ZOO CELEBRATES EARTH DAY WITH 15TH ANNUAL PARTY FOR THE PLANET


Bergen County Zoo hosts conservation family-fun day with education, activities, prizes

(PARAMUS, NJ) – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco, the Board of Commissioners, and the Bergen County Parks Department are pleased to invite the public to enjoy the 15th annual Party for the Planet on Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 from 10am-4pm at the Bergen County Zoo in Van Saun County Park. Party for the Planet programming also includes local conservation organization tables on Saturday, April 22 and conservation efforts within the Bergen County Zoo on Sunday, April 23.

Each year, the Bergen County Zoo hosts Party for the Planet, one of their most popular events which welcomes upwards of 1,000 visitors annually. This year’s event builds on the Zoo’s Change for the Climate initiative.

Party for the Planet 2023 will take place Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23. Saturday, April 22, will feature local conservation organizations. Each organization will set up tables with activities, prizes, and more, to educate and involve the public in various conservation projects. Sunday, April 23, will showcase conservation efforts within the Bergen County Zoo while also featuring conservation themed activities that will educate visitors on the important behind-the-scenes work undertaken by the Zoo.

“Party for the Planet is your one-stop shop for conservation programming, providing residents with the opportunity and resources to support local efforts here in Bergen County,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “Don’t miss out on this special Earth Day Celebration at the Bergen County Zoo!”

“I am excited to see the most popular program of the year at the zoo, Party for the Planet go from a one day event to a full weekend family outing,” said Commissioner Steve Tanelli. “Our parks system is the crown jewel of our county and this is just another way to provides outdoor recreation for our Bergen County residents.”

“Party for the Planet is our favorite event of the year,” said Marianne Vella, the Director of the Bergen County Zoo. “Like other AZA affiliations, the Bergen County Zoo is dedicated to supporting conservation efforts around the world. Party for the Planet, led by Melissa Czinn and our Education Staff, gives us a special opportunity to increase awareness as well as showcase efforts being made by local groups. Our visitors can observe and experience real ways to help the environment. Building connections within our community is key to our mission of understanding and preserving our planet.”

The Bergen County Zoo is dedicated to actively pursuing efforts to conserve wildlife and wild places and instill in its guests a strong sense of appreciation and understanding of both.
