The Salvation Army New Jersey Division Calls on Volunteer Bell Ringers in Support of Red Kettle Campaign

With Requests for Assistance on the Rise, Iconic Fundraising Campaign Helps Fill the Gap
UNION, NJ —The Salvation Army’s iconic Red Kettle Campaign launches in just a few weeks, and the non-profit organization is calling on volunteers to sign up as Red Kettle bell ringers in support of critical programs that benefit those in need.

This holiday season, thousands of individuals and families in New Jersey continue to struggle with the ongoing impacts of inflation, evictions, job loss, and more. The Salvation Army has also seen an increase in sign-ups for Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance.

The funds raised through the organization’s iconic red kettles not only help provide holiday meals and gifts to children who would otherwise go without, but they also benefit year-round services including food pantries, soup kitchens, music and arts classes, daycare programs, homeless shelters, and utility assistance.

"Red Kettle volunteers play a vital role in supporting our work to help our neighbors in need throughout the state," said Major JongWoo Kim, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army New Jersey Division. "Every dollar dropped into a red kettle is a small act of love that can have a huge impact for someone in need. When you ring the bell, you’re making a difference– the more kettles we have, the more assistance we can provide."

Opportunities to ring are available Monday-Saturday throughout November and December, with the most need on Saturdays. Individual volunteer slots are available in locations throughout New Jersey. Service and community groups, company employees, students, and families are also welcome to sign up as group volunteers.
