NY WATERWAY ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN TO RAISE FUNDS TO COMBAT HUNGER
Partners with WhyHunger, Urges Riders To Donate Matching Contributions
NY Waterway today announced a holiday effort to raise funds for an organization leading the way in the fight to end hunger.
Through Christmas, NY Waterway will be using its myriad communication platforms to encourage its employees, riders and all metropolitan area residents to support WhyHunger (https://whyhunger.org/), the respected non-profit working, according to its website, “to end hunger and advance the human right to nutritious food in the U.S. and around the world.” WhyHunger was co-founded in 1975 by the late musician Harry Chapin and radio DJ Bill Ayres.
“The holiday season is a critical time to remind ourselves of the needs of the less fortunate,” said NY Waterway CEO Armand Pohan. “We are proud to partner with a venerable organization to help raise awareness, funds and to address the significant problem of hunger in our area.”
“We believe that nutritious food is a basic human right and together, we can solve the problem of hunger locally and in communities around the globe,” said Jenique Jones Executive Director of WhyHunger. “We are proud to partner with NY Waterway to raise critical funds this holiday season and we know that every donation has an impact. A little plus a little equals a lot – and those funds help support our work to tackle the root causes of hunger and ensure everyone has access to healthy food.”
NY Waterway and WhyHunger have created a special web page (nyw/WhyHunger) for donations and NY Waterway will match contributions, up to $5000.
