With ‘One Voice,’ Residents Take the Mic at Allendale Senior Living

ALLENDALE, N.J. (Dec. 18, 2023) – Allendale Mayor Amy Wilczynski sat down for a chat recently with Allendale Senior Living resident Dorothy Robblee. Their conversation was part of a new, resident-hosted podcast series called “One Voice at Allendale Senior Living,” which features interviews with guests ranging from local businesses and high-profile individuals to fellow residents and community staff.
Mayor Wilczynski responded to questions from Robblee, whose own colorful career – which included collecting, counting and delivering New York State Lottery money – was the subject of an earlier podcast. Topics ranged from the mayor’s professional journey (she delivered newspapers and worked as a bank teller before building a successful career as an executive coach) to her favorite ways to relax and recharge (cooking and gardening).
When asked how the community can best serve older constituents, Mayor Wilczynski said, “By doing what I did today, coming here and talking to everyone, finding out what their needs and goals are, and then seeing how we can best try to help.” She noted that services available to Allendale-area seniors include the XYZ Club, which offers lunch and a variety of entertainment options. The borough is currently working on a program where community residents will buddy up with seniors for regular check-ins and companionship.
The “One Voice” program is made possible through a partnership between Allendale Senior Living and Marquis Health Consulting Services, which provides administrative and consulting services to the community.
