HUDSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE CRAIG GUY CELEBRATES PORTUGUESE CULTURE AND HERITAGE WITH FLAG RAISING

JERSEY CITY, NJ — On Wednesday, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy, the Board of County Commissioners, East Newark Mayor Dina Grilo, and Hudson County Director of Cultural & Heritage Affairs Gina Hulings celebrated Portuguese culture and heritage with a flag raising at the Brennan Courthouse.

“As we raise the Portuguese flag, we celebrate National Portuguese Heritage Month and stand in support of our Portuguese American residents, business owners, educators, and so many others for their rich contributions to the culture that permeates Hudson County,” said Hudson County Executive Guy. “From delicious food and rhythmic music to vibrant dance and embracing hospitality, there are endless ways the Portuguese American community has positively impacted Hudson County.”

“I’m proud to see the rich heritage of Portugal celebrated here in Hudson County,” said Mayor Grilo. “This month gives us all a chance to reflect on the successes and contributions made by Portuguese Americans in our daily lives here in the county.”

“The Portuguese American community has made a lasting impact on Hudson County,” said Director Hulings. “I'm proud to be a Luso-American and I was honored to attend this event recognizing the contributions of Portuguese Americans in our community.”

This was Hudson County’s third annual Portuguese flag raising ceremony. The event included a dance presentation from the Sport Club Portuguese Folklore Group, Rancho Camponeses do Minho.
