Valley Health System Announces Opening of Glaucoma Center of Excellence

PARAMUS, NJ, August 26, 2024 – Valley Health System is proud to announce the opening of a Glaucoma Center of Excellence at its Valley Medical Group ophthalmology practice, located at 1200 East Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood, New Jersey.

The Center is led by Tanya Fooks, MD, a Valley ophthalmologist who has over 14 years of training and experience in diagnosing and treating patients with this serious condition.

Glaucoma is a disease that damages the optic nerve in your eye, which may result in vision loss or blindness. If detected early, treatments can occur to mitigate damage to vision.

“We offer multidisciplinary care that combines treatment with highly personalized service from our staff, including a patient navigator who will coordinate each patient’s care and answer all questions before, during, and after appointments,” said Dr. Fooks. “With our seamless coordination of care, we can make scheduling and receiving care simpler and easier for patients, while reducing the timeline in bringing sight-saving advances to patients.”

Early diagnosis is key to managing the condition. Dr. Fooks will consistently monitor patients and introduce medical interventions at appropriate times to reduce the likelihood or onset of compromises in vision.
