BERGEN COUNTY PRESENTS $146K IN OPEN SPACE FUNDING TO BOROUGH OF RUTHERFORD

Funding will support Memorial Park Diamond 4 Improvement Project
(RUTHERFORD, N.J.) – County Executive Jim Tedesco and members of the Board of Commissioners recently presented a ceremonial check for $146,685 from the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund (OSTF) to Rutherford Mayor Frank Nunziato and members of the Borough Council. The funding will support the Memorial Park Diamond 4 Improvement Project.

The OSTF grant is part of over $11.5 million awarded by the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund to 51 municipal and county park improvement projects this year. Planned improvements for Memorial Park Diamond 4 Softball Field include the installation of new bleachers, a scoreboard, and sports netting, as well as upgrades to the dugouts, fencing, and pathways. This project will enhance the park’s accessibility and functionality, providing an improved recreational space for Rutherford residents.

“The Bergen Open Space Grant Program is one of the greatest tools in our arsenal to advance our shared goals of protecting the environment, promoting sustainability, and preserving open space for future generations to enjoy,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “My administration remains committed to supporting our partner municipalities through this program, and I look forward to celebrating the completion of several of these projects in the months and years to come.”

These improvements are a testament to Bergen County’s commitment to supporting vibrant, accessible public spaces.”
