BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF PATERSON AND PASSAIC LAUNCHES FREE ACADEMIC TUTORING PROGRAM


Paterson, NJ – The Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic is excited to announce the launch of its Saturday Academic Tutoring Program for the new academic year.

The program is designed to provide additional academic support to students in the community and is offered free of charge to any students who are residents of Paterson or Passaic, grades K-8. There is also a teen-focused tutoring program for grades 9-11. Both programs offer a fun and engaging learning environment where youth can enhance their skills and build confidence, preparing them for success in school and beyond.

The Saturday Academic Tutoring Program will be held every Saturday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm at two locations: The Boys & Girls Club of Paterson at 264 21st Avenue, Paterson and the Boys & Girls Club of Passaic at 14 Hudson Street, Passaic. The program focuses on key academic subjects of Math, English/ Reading and Penmanship, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention to help them excel. Experienced tutors and mentors from the community will lead the sessions, working closely with students to address their unique learning needs and goals. Many of the tutors and staff are bilingual in English and Spanish to meet the needs of the community. The program is led by JoAnn Cardillo, Ed.D., Academic Program and Tutoring Coordinator and Marion Parks, Education Specialist, both of whom have extensive educational leadership experience in Passaic County.

In addition to academic tutoring, the program will offer students access to technology and learning resources, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive. The supportive and enriching environment created by the Boys & Girls Club staff fosters not only academic achievement but also positive social and emotional development.

The Saturday Academic Tutoring Program is the latest initiative in the organization’s mission to inspire and empower the youth of Paterson and Passaic.

Additionally, the program is looking for volunteers age 21 and up to assist tutors on Saturdays, as well as sponsors of the Saturday Study Snacks program, which provides healthy snacks for students in the program.
