NJ Sharing Network Named Nonprofit Business of the Year by NJBIZ
(New Providence, NJ) – NJ Sharing Network, the federally designated nonprofit organization responsible for the recovery of donated organs and tissue for transplant in the Garden State, is proud to announce that it has been honored with the prestigious NJBIZ Nonprofit Business of the Year Award (100+ employees).
NJ Sharing Network was selected from a competitive pool of nonprofit organizations across New Jersey, including several well-respected partners in health and human services. NJ Sharing Network was recognized for its unwavering dedication to saving lives and enhancing the health of individuals through the gift of organ and tissue donation.
Carolyn M. Welsh, President and CEO of NJ Sharing Network, expressed her gratitude, saying, “To stand out among such remarkable peers speaks volumes about the extraordinary work our team does every day. What makes this award even more special is how it honors not just our achievements, but our heart. Our tireless efforts, compassion for donor families, and commitment to honoring the gift of organ and tissue donation are what set us apart.”
Established in 2006, NJBIZ’s Business of the Year awards celebrate the exceptional impact of organizations that demonstrate excellence in leadership, business growth, and community commitment. Awardees were selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of previous program honorees.
According to the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), over 100,000 Americans are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, with nearly 4,000 of them in New Jersey. One organ and tissue donor can save eight lives and enhance the lives of over 75 others. However, the opportunity to give the gift of life is extremely rare – not everyone who registers as a donor is able to donate after they pass away. In fact, less than 1% of all deaths meet the specific medical criteria to be an organ donor. This underscores the pressing need for more registered donors.
