The Valley Hospital Foundation to Host Fourth Annual “Step Up for Valley” Virtual Fitness Challenge

PARAMUS, NJ, August 12, 2025 – The Valley Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that the fourth annual Step Up for Valley virtual fitness challenge will take place from September 6 to September 13, 2025. The proceeds from this week-long fundraiser will be donated to benefit Valley’s cardiac obstetric initiative that screens, identifies, and supports pregnant and postpartum patients with hypertension (high blood pressure).

“Step Up for Valley brings our community together each year to encourage healthy living and support programs and services at Valley Health System that care for our friends, families, and neighbors when they need it most,” said Jeff Seidler, a Trustee of The Valley Hospital Foundation and the founder of Step Up for Valley. “This year’s event supports an important program under Valley’s cardiovascular service line that treats women with pregnancy-induced hypertension, a condition near and dear to my heart that can be life-threatening if not managed appropriately.”

In the United States and locally at Valley, an increase has been seen in pregnancy-induced hypertension, preeclampsia, and eclampsia – all of which can lead to higher morbidity, mortality, and stroke in new mothers.

Participants can join the challenge individually or create a team. Registration is $25 per individual, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Special pricing is available for members of Valley Health LifeStyles.

Participants will create their own fundraising pages, where they will track their fundraising, record their physical activity, and share these accomplishments with their family and friends. Each participant and team will earn points getting those “steps” in through walking, running, biking, pickleball, and a variety of other activities. Participants will also be rewarded for their fundraising achievements.

Participants have the opportunity to win one of 10 grand prizes, which include a ProForm Fitness Mirror with a one-year ProForm subscription, Apple watches, Valley Health LifeStyles memberships, and more, as well as a chance to win daily door prizes just for participating.
