BRBQ BY AWARD-WINNING DOMODOMO TEAM NOW OPEN AT JOURNAL SQUARE URBY IN JERSEY CITY

Renowned restaurateurs’ third local concept brings Korean-American flair, bold flavors, cocktails and all-day energy to the dynamic neighborhood
JERSEY CITY, NJ – BRBQ, the latest concept from the acclaimed DOMODOMO team, is now open at Journal Square Urby, welcoming guests to experience a dynamic fusion of Korean-American cuisine and wood-fired grilling in a stylish, contemporary setting.
The all-day restaurant is the third Jersey City concept from co-owners Jae Park and Brian Kim, who helped shape the city’s culinary identity with DOMODOMO and ONDO. At BRBQ, located at the base of the 25-story Urby tower across from the Journal Square PATH, the duo introduces a menu centered on premium proteins and vegetables, char-grilled over real wood flames and finished with bold, Asian-inspired sauces, condiments, and aromatics. The result is a smoky, deeply savory, umami-rich experience.
“Our goal with BRBQ was to create something unique, but still incredibly comforting,” said Chef Brian Kim, co-founder of DOMODOMO. “We’re taking the deep, charred flavors of wood-fire grilling and pairing them with Korean elements we love, from galbi marinades to gochujang and fermented ingredients that add depth and complexity. The result is familiar but unexpected, and we’re excited to finally share it with the community.”
Menu highlights include:
Double Cut LA Galbi – Marinated Black Angus beef short ribs, wood-grilled to smoky perfection
Spicy Pork Bulgogi Tacos – Gochujang-marinated pork, Korean salad, corn tortillas, guacamole, tomato salsa & sour cream
Butterflied Branzino – Charred scallion pesto, wood soy vinaigrette, ginger, lemon
Jumbo Shrimp – Calabrian chili sauce, caper, chive, lemon
Wood-Fired Grilled Chicken – Skin-on chicken, pickled radish, tare sauce
Housemade Sausage – Pork sausage marinated in galbi sauce, filled with glass noodles
Pan con Tomate – Wood-fire grilled tomato salsa, chive, Maldon salt
Lunch and weekend brunch lean more casual and comfort-driven, featuring house-made Korean sausages, BRBQ burgers topped with kimchi relish, and fluffy mochi pancakes.
A full bar anchors the space, serving eight signature cocktails—smoky, seasonal, and spicy-sweet—alongside a rotating list of natural and biodynamic wines and a curated selection of craft beers. Coffee and espresso drinks crafted with La Colombe beans on a La Marzocco machine are available daily starting at 11 AM.
Designed by IDBD NYC, BRBQ’s interior blends reclaimed timber, exposed brick, and sleek metal accents to create a warm yet contemporary atmosphere. A central bar invites guests to linger over drinks and small plates, while an outdoor terrace offers al fresco dining overlooking the vibrant Journal Square streetscape.
Seamlessly connected to the Journal Square Urby lobby and just steps from the PATH station, BRBQ serves as both a neighborhood gathering spot and a destination restaurant for visitors eager to experience the cultural richness and renewed energy of the area.
“BRBQ adds a new layer of excitement and culinary creativity to Journal Square,” said David Barry, Founder and CEO of Urby. “It’s exactly the kind of chef-driven, community-focused concept we hoped to bring to this location, where residents and neighbors can connect over great food and drinks. We’re thrilled to see the doors open and energy flowing.”
BRBQ is located at 532 Summit Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, at the base of Journal Square Urby. For full hours, menu highlights, and reservations, visit www.BRBQJC.com.
