Women's Health Symposium to Empower Women Against Top Health Concerns

For women in their late 30’s, their bodies undergo changes that can impact physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. They may see changes to their menstrual cycle, decreased energy levels, and gradual weight gain.

Understanding these various changes can help women navigate the transitions and new phases with confidence. And, to meet the needs of women today who actively seek credible information about their health, Holy Name health system and Holy Name Foundation is proud to host a Women’s Health Symposium, celebrating 100 years of skilled and compassionate care for women, on October 19, 2025, from 9 am to 3:30 pm.

Held at Holy Name Sister Claire Tynan School of Nursing in Englewood Cliffs, the event will focus on heart health, breast cancer, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease, all of which are considered by many to be the top health concerns for women today. Knowing how to protect yourself from these potentially dangerous health conditions is particularly important as we age.

The dynamic symposium agenda will include activities to support the mind, body, and soul, including:

A nature walk, meditation, and yoga

Keynote address by Dr. Melanie Marin, Director of the Menopause Management Program at the Mount Sinai Health System and Certified Menopause Practitioner; she will share her expertise on navigating menopause with clarity and in collaboration with a healthcare provider

Breakout sessions on such topics as fibroids, gut health, and resistance training

Panel discussion moderated by Dr. Sharyn N. Lewin, addressing the most pressing health concerns; panelist include:

Heart Health – Dr. Zankhana Raval, Cardiologist

Breast Cancer – Dr. Raimonda Goldman, Chief of Oncology

Stroke – Marissa Brown, MSN, RN-BC, SCRN, Stroke Program Coordinator

Alzheimer’s Disease – Dr. Mary Ann Picone, Neurologist and Medical Director, MS Center

An exhibition area featuring resources on women’s health topics

Though women spend more than 30% of their life in a menopausal state, a 2024 survey conducted by Talker Research found that only one in four women (25%) felt informed about perimenopause and less than half (34%) about menopause by their healthcare provider. Events like the Women’s Health Symposium aim to empower women to support their long-term health.
