Bergen County Presents $119,571 Open Space Trust Fund Check to Borough of Closter for Ruckman Park Upgrades

HACKENSACK – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of County Commissioners, alongside Acting Bergen County Parks Director Craig Dorsett, proudly presented a $119,571 check to the Borough of Closter for improvements to Ruckman Park. The funding will go toward the installation of a new walkway surface, enhancing accessibility, safety, and overall enjoyment for residents and visitors.

The grant, awarded through the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund, reflects the County’s ongoing commitment to partnering with municipalities to strengthen communities, improve local parks, and enhance quality of life for residents.

“This is another great example of how the Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund helps our towns make lasting improvements that benefit our communities,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “What makes Bergen County so special is our ability to work hand-in-hand with our municipalities to make life better for all residents. By investing in our parks, we’re creating safer, more accessible spaces that provide greater opportunities for recreation and community connection.”

“The Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund is a reservoir of opportunity for municipalities to meet their recreation needs and expand open space,” said Commissioner Chairwoman Mary Amoroso. “We’re proud to be here in Closter today, seeing firsthand how this program continues to make a meaningful impact in communities across the county.”

“Closter has an outstanding recreation program that we’re incredibly proud of,” said Closter Mayor John Glidden. “We’re deeply grateful to Bergen County for the Open Space Trust Fund, which allows us to keep enhancing our parks and facilities. Ruckman Park is truly a gem for our community, and these improvements will ensure it continues to serve residents of all ages for generations to come.”
