Bergenstages Presents “The Drawer Boy”

PARAMUS, N.J. – The Bergen Institute for the Creative Arts and Bergenstages will present a production of Michael Healey’s “The Drawer Boy” in late February and early March in the Ender Hall Lab Theatre at Bergen Community College’s main campus in Paramus (400 Paramus Road).

Directed by Thomas O’Neill, Ed.D., The Drawer Boy details the story of Miles, an idealistic, ebullient young actor from Toronto who knocks on the door of an isolated farmhouse in rural Ontario in 1972.

Miles hopes to move in with two middle-aged bachelor farmers, Morgan and Angus, to learn about their lives so that he can write a play about them and country life. Morgan has taken care of his friend Angus ever since he suffered a head injury during World War II. As Miles learns more about the two local farmers, the nature of their extraordinary relationship comes to the surface.

Performances will take place on Friday, February 27; Saturday, February 28; Thursday, March 5; Friday, March 6; and Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. Matinee performances take place on Saturday, February 28 and Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. Audiences are invited to attend a special post-show audience talk-back immediately following the March 5 performance.
