Paramus Care Setting Earns National “Excellence in Care” Distinction from Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
(May 18, 2026)— The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) has named Juniper Village Paramus a national “Excellence in Care (EIC) Dementia Care Program of Distinction.” This national distinction is earned after successfully undergoing an extensive evaluation of staff, procedures, and environment, ensuring best practices in dementia care.
It is the first time the organization has earned this recognition. Juniper Village Paramus is the only care setting in Northern New Jersey, and one of just five in the state, to hold this distinction.
“Juniper Village Paramus is one of the only care settings in the country to meet the national standard of excellence in dementia care set forth in the EIC program,” said Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr., AFA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “Their commitment to high quality, person-centered dementia care, and promoting and protecting the health, safety, and well-being of individuals living with dementia is impressive. Congratulations to Juniper Village Paramus on attaining this national level of excellence.”
"Receiving the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Excellence in Care Dementia Care Program of Distinction is an incredible honor for our entire Juniper Village Paramus family,” said Elizabeth Morocho, Executive Director of Juniper Village Paramus. “We are truly thrilled to be recognized for the compassionate, person-centered care that our team provides each and every day. This distinction reflects the dedication, heart, and commitment of our associates, who strive to create a warm, engaging, and supportive environment where residents living with dementia can continue to thrive with dignity, purpose, and joy. We are deeply grateful to our residents and families for entrusting us with their care and allowing us the privilege of being part of their journey.”
To earn this distinction, EIC sites must meet certain standards set forth by AFA focusing on the following three areas: facilitating meaningful living, promoting safety and security in the environment, and overall health and wellness of the care community being serviced. Assisted living residences, skilled nursing facilities, continuing care residential communities, adult day programs, group homes, and senior centers that provide care to individuals living with dementia are eligible to participate in AFA’s Excellence in Care Dementia Care Program of Distinction.
Juniper Village Paramus provides person-centered memory care to individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia in a comfortable home-like environment. Their specially trained team of professionals and Certified Dementia Practitioners assist with activities of daily living, along with meaningful and therapeutic programs to keep residents stimulated. Services offered include independent living, personal care, short-term rehabilitation, and long-term skilled care. The organization offers respite care for caregivers, providing a much-needed break so that they can for themselves.
