Panelists Discuss Mental Health and the Male Label at West Side Presbyterian Church
RIDGEWOOD—Did you know that the male label is associated with a greater risk of harm? Yet the male labeled are less likely to seek and get the mental health services they need, leading to untreated depression, anxiety, relationship conflict and trauma.
This tragic reality inspired Ridgewood psychotherapist Chris Warren-Dickins, LPC, to write the self-help book Beyond the Blue: A Survival Guide for the Male Labeled and a Healthier Society for All, which was published in October 2021. “This was already a problem before the pandemic, and now it has become a healthcare crisis,” he said.
Warren-Dickins will lead a virtual panel discussion hosted by West Side Presbyterian Church on March 30 at 7:30 pm. He will be joined by Michael Tozzoli, CEO of West Bergen Mental Healthcare, and Sandra Johnson, a licensed clinical social worker based in Midland Park.
Warren-Dickins has practiced as a psychotherapist since 2008 and was awarded a Masters in Counseling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London in 2010. Previously, he worked as a lawyer in London. His integrative approach to psychotherapy includes cognitive behavioral therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (an approach commonly used for trauma), affirmative LGBTQ+ therapy and men’s therapy.
