EXCEPTIONAL TEEN NAMED 2022 NEW JERSEY “YOUTH OF THE YEAR” BY BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS IN NEW JERSEY


Trinity Campbell Set to Receive College Scholarship and Vie for Northeast Regional Title in June

Clifton, NJ – May 19, 2022 – Selected among 14 outstanding youth, Trinity from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County, has been named the 2022 New Jersey Youth of the Year by Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person in recognition of leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. Now in its 75th year, the Youth of the Year program honors our nation’s most aweinspiring young people on their path to great futures. As the 2022 New Jersey Youth of the Year, Trinity will serve as an ambassador for all teens in the state and will receive a $12,500 college scholarship from Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She will go on to contend for the regional Youth of the Year and ultimately the national title.

Campbell has been an outstanding Club member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hudson County, participating in art and music programs, and even performing with the Club choir. She has a passion for art and, in 2021, she was named a Northeast Region Winner in Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Fine Arts Contest. She maintains a 3.2 GPA while also assisting younger members of the Club. 

Campbell has been a Club member for four years where she has participated in many Club programs including SMART Girls, Money Matters and UPS Road Code. She is engaged with the Club’s college and career readiness programming. She is a star in the Club’s Teen Tech Center, teaching other members how to use the Wacom drawing tablet, recording vocals in the music studio, and collaborating on graphic designs.

Campbell’s career aspiration is to be a Fashion Designer. The Club programs that she participated in that made a big impact on her were Power Hour which helped her maintain her high grades and SMART Girls, in which she was able to learn how to become an independent and confident young woman.

On June 23, Trinity will join other state winners to vie for the Northeast regional title. If named the regional winner, she will be awarded an additional $20,000 college scholarship. Six youth, including five regional winners and a military youth winner, will advance to the National Youth of the Year event in Los Angeles in October 2022, to compete for the title of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year will receive an additional scholarship of $50,000 and a brand-new Toyota Corolla.
