The Community Chest Opens Annual Campaign to Support Nonprofit Agencies Delivering Critical Care Services to Our Neighbors in Need
(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; December 6, 2022) -- The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County's 2022-2023 Annual Campaign is underway. The campaign raises funds to provide grants to nonprofit agencies responding to rising need for critical services that are outpacing available resources.
As the holiday giving season opens, The Community Chest asks its neighbors to give locally. For nearly 90 years, The Chest has identified needs, led initiatives and supported nonprofits to make local communities stronger and benefit people in the area.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of Tropical Storm Ida, The Chest's critical funding supported operations and directed services for agencies' clients for health care, personal protective equipment, meals and supplies for people in need in 15 municipalities in eastern Bergen County. "The Community Chest was founded to provide grants to agencies that serve those facing the greatest hardships in our community. These awards are vital to help fund agency operations or direct services to clients," said Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director, The Community Chest. "The largest source of our grants to local nonprofits is through donations made to our annual campaign. We encourage the public to give locally and help our neighbors in need."
Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Each year, The Chest raises funds and allocates them in competitive grants to nonprofit agencies demonstrating the capacity to provide services to local citizens. Coordinating and planning services are also provided in its communities, serving as a bridge between agencies and organizations and investing in the stability and quality of the service network. The organization's Board of Managers implements a thorough process of screening, research, and monitoring to assure the funds raised are directed to the most worthy programs and the areas of greatest need.
