RCC and Ramapo College of New Jersey Partner to Support Bachelor’s Degree Completion

New Transfer Agreement Expands Opportunities for Local Students

[Rockland County, NY] April 13, 2026 – Rockland Community College (RCC) in Suffern, NY, and Ramapo College of New Jersey (RCNJ) in Mahwah, NJ, have signed a transfer agreement to provide RCC students with a direct pathway to a bachelor’s degree.

Under this agreement, RCC students who complete an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree may transfer to Ramapo College with junior standing.

“Our partnership with Ramapo College of New Jersey reflects our commitment to offering students clear, affordable pathways to a four-year degree,” said Dr. William P. Mullaney, president of Rockland Community College. “This agreement enables our graduates to continue their education locally while building on the strong academic foundation they receive at RCC.”

Ramapo College President Dr. Cindy Jebb emphasized how the partnership reflects the connection between the two institutions. "Our campuses sit in neighboring counties so our communities are naturally intertwined. Families live, work, and learn on both sides of the state line. And for me, this agreement carries special meaning. As someone who is proudly from Rockland County, NY and now lives among the Ramapo Mountain foothills in NJ, I understand firsthand how closely connected our region is — not divided by a border but strengthened by it."

The agreement provides that:

RCC students who earn an A.A. or A.S. degree and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 will be admitted to Ramapo College of New Jersey, with the exception of A.A.S. Nursing graduates.

Students who graduate with an A.A. or A.S. degree will have their general education requirements satisfied and transfer with junior standing (excluding prerequisites for specific majors).

RCC graduates admitted to Ramapo College will be eligible for the Border State Scholarship, which is renewable for students who maintain continuous enrollment toward their first bachelor’s degree.

Ramapo College will assign a transfer advisor to RCC’s campus to provide guidance and support throughout the transfer process.

RCC and Ramapo College will collaborate on academic advising and regularly review the agreement to maintain alignment in curriculum and transfer policies.

The agreement will take effect for students enrolling in the Fall 2026 semester.
