Center for Hope & Safety Transforms Community Center Increasing Support Services for Domestic Violence Victims and Survivors with Grant from Link Logistics

Rochelle Park, N.J. (July 31, 2023) – Center for Hope & Safety (CHS), Bergen County’s only not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping adults and children rebuild their lives beyond domestic violence and abuse, announces it has completed a renovation of the first floor of its community center in Rochelle Park, NJ.

The project was made possible by a $100,000 grant from Link Logistics and further expands the resources and support services CHS provides to adults and children who are victims or survivors of domestic violence in Bergen County, N.J.

Through the grant, victims and survivors of domestic violence served by CHS’ Economic Empowerment Team, which provides career counseling, job development and housing counseling services, have access to more food and other basic necessities, helping them conquer poverty as they rebuild their lives beyond domestic abuse. The renovations included expanding the CHS Community Closet to better store, properly organize and efficiently distribute needed items such as food, hygiene products, toiletries, diapers and clothing to the clients they serve. Approximately 400 women a year, and their households, will be receiving enhanced support as a result of the renovations.

Additionally, the grant transformed the space in which CHS’ Economic Empowerment Team serves clients with a more functional layout, welcoming and calming design, and new furniture. The newly renovated space provides a professional yet safe and caring environment that lifts clients’ morale and strengthens their dignity.

Computers were also purchased with these grant funds to support CHS clients in their financial self-sufficiency journey. Clients can now work on their resumes, search for employment opportunities and apply for employment jobs while visiting the Center. New smart televisions were also purchased through the grant to provide information on services and resources as well as to deliver trainings.

“The transformation of our community center is truly incredible,” said July Myner, Ph.D., Executive Director of Center for Hope & Safety. “We are so grateful to Link Logistics for their generous support of our mission. Their team went above and beyond, even helping us to clean out our old space to prepare for construction. Because of their support we’ll no longer have to turn away donations due to lack of space, and we’ll be able to serve more adults and children in our community, helping them to find safety and build a life free from violence.”

“Link Logistics is committed to finding ways to invest in our communities and make a conscious, positive impact in them,” said Luke J Petherbridge, chief executive office, Link Logistics. “We are proud to support the Center for Hope & Safety and believe in the work they are doing.”
