25-STORY URBY TOWER TOPS OUT IN JERSEY CITY

Journal Square Urby Will Introduce 317 New Apartments, Amenities and Cafe Directly Across from the Journal Square PATH Station

JERSEY CITY, NJ, September 5, 2023 – Journal Square Urby, the new residential tower rising across from the Journal Square PATH Station in Jersey City, has reached its topping out point at 265 feet.

The final beam is in place, the project’s visionary developer Urby announced today, marking the completion of vertical construction for the 25-story building located at the corner of Pavonia and Summit Avenues. With 317 brand new apartments and innovative social spaces slated for the property – including a roof garden with a pool, work from home spaces, and uninterrupted views of the Manhattan skyline – the topping out is a key milestone for the burgeoning Journal Square neighborhood as well as the Urby brand. Journal Square Urby will be the seventh Urby location to open nationwide and the second in Jersey City, following the 2017 debut of a 69-story property in the city’s Harborside waterfront neighborhood.

Expected to be completed in the Spring of 2024, Journal Square Urby will deliver a variety of smartly-designed residences to the market – which include studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Planned amenities include an integrated café in the lobby, a huge state-of-the-art gym complete with an attached yoga studio and stretching area, and a suite of indoor and outdoor features on the 25th floor, such as work from home spaces, a roof garden, pool, BBQ areas, and a dog park with panoramic views. The rooftop and many of the residences will offer sweeping views of downtown Jersey City, the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

“We are excited to share the construction progress at Journal Square Urby and look forward to opening our second Urby location in Jersey City,” said David Barry, Founder and CEO of Urby. “Journal Square Urby will offer the unique shared spaces and inspired design that define the Urby brand, while also creating an intimate boutique environment for residents to connect with one another and the culturally-rich neighborhood.”

Designed by Concrete, the award-winning Dutch design firm responsible for citizenM Hotels around the world, with HLW serving as Executive Architect, Journal Square Urby will feature a design and layout that complements the existing neighborhood scale at the street level while providing a visually-dynamic tower that breaks out into three distinct masses. Outdoor spaces will be designed by internationally renowned landscape architect Bureau Bas Smets, which was recently awarded the commission for the grounds of the legendary Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Urby has commissioned a significant mural on the side of the building by contemporary artist Felipe Pantone, an Argentinian-Spanish artist whose work deals with dynamism, transformation, digital revolution, and themes related to the present times.

Journal Square, a neighborhood that once beat at the heart of Jersey City’s commercial and entertainment fabric, is experiencing a cultural and developmental renaissance, making it one of the city’s most vibrant destinations. Positioned just minutes away from New York City via the PATH train, with convenient highway and bus access, the transportation hub stands at the intersection of connectivity and community vitality.

Journal Square Urby is located at 575 Pavonia Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07306. For more information, visit www.urby.com.
