Hammer’s Helpers – Charity of New York Giants Punter Jamie Gillan – Visit The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care for Christmas Donation


RIDGEWOOD, NJ, January 8, 2024 – Valley Health System is pleased to thank Hammer’s Helpers, the charity of Jamie Gillan, the “Scottish Hammer,” punter for the New York Giants, for the generous donation of toys for pediatric patients of The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care.

On Tuesday, December 19, toys were donated in person to pediatric patients at The Valley Hospital and Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program, as well as clothes for neonatal intensive care (NICU) babies, by Jamie Gillan and his teammates Casey Kreiter and Cade York.

“We like to help out as much as possible to bring over some gifts so these kids can open them and play with them during their time here at The Valley Hospital,” said Jamie Gillian.

“Valley is very appreciative and thankful to Jamie Gillan for his donation to our pediatric patients,” said Charles Vannoy, DNP, RN, MBA, FACHE, NEA-BC, HN-BC, Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Office at The Valley Hospital. “The gesture really goes a long way in uplifting their spirits during the holiday season.”

“To me, this is what being an NFL player is all about. I’m fortunate enough to have the platform that I have and to be able to give back, especially to kids and families in need during tough times. It is always good to put smiles on people's faces,” said Casey Kreiter. long snapper for the New York Giants.

After the hospital visit, Jamie also visited the home of a patient in Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program. He spent time learning about the patient’s diagnosis, discussing home care services, and meeting with the family.

Valley Home Care’s Butterflies Program provides comprehensive home care services, comfort, and relief for infants and children who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting or life-threatening illness, and their loved ones.

“This visit and donation have a profound impact, and it creates an everlasting memory for the children. We really appreciate everything Jamie Gillan, his organization Hammer’s Helpers, and the New York Giants are doing for Valley,” Toni Modak, MBA, BSN, RN, Vice President of Valley Home Care.
