The Valley Hospital Earns ACR Re-accreditation

RIDGEWOOD, NJ, February 7, 2024 – The Radiation Oncology Department at Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care has been re-accredited for a three-year term by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as the result of a recent review.

The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

“We are excited to be re-accredited by the American College of Radiology,” said Michael Wesson, MD, Co-Medical Director of Radiation Oncology for The Valley Hospital. “This shows the high-quality care we provide our patients here at Valley.”

“Patient safety is a key part of our team approach at Valley,” said Chad DeYoung, MD, Co-Medical Director of Radiation Oncology for The Valley Hospital. “Any radiation procedures patients have will go through a rigorous quality assurance process to ensure they receive accurate and appropriate treatment.”

Patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Radiation Oncology Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
