Veolia Awards Grant to The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County for Bound for Success High School SAT Prep Program

(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; June 3, 2024) -- The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County received a grant of $20,000 from Veolia to support the SAT preparation program, Bound for Success.  The program, a partnership with The Community Chest, Dwight Morrow High School and Bergen Family Center's in-school program,

The Zone, prepares high school juniors from low-income families attending Dwight Morrow High School and the Academies at Englewood to take the SAT.

"We thank Veolia for their continued support of The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County and the funds to implement the Bound for Success program.  This program provides motivated college bound high school juniors, who are the first in their families to attend a post-secondary institution, with the tools they need to prepare for the SAT test," said Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director, The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County.

Students, who applied and completed the application process, were selected to participate in Bound for Success.  They attended the program with instruction provided by Prep for Success.  The funding provided SAT preparation classes and increased the number of low-income, first generation college bound students taking the test.  Ultimately, this will increase the number of first generation high school students attending and graduating from post-secondary institutions.  During the classes, the students learned how to take the SAT test, understand the types of questions asked, and study the approaches to use when answering the questions.  In addition, they also received some tutorials.
