The Community Chest's Fourth Golf Outing Draws Businesses and Philanthropists to Raise Funds to Support Grants for Nonprofits Responding to Need in Bergen County


(Eastern Bergen County, New Jersey; June 17, 2024) -- The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County held its fourth annual Golf Outing at Edgewood Country Club in River Vale, New Jersey.  Golfers attended to raise funds for The Chest's initiatives and to support grant awards to nonprofit agencies providing a range of services to people requiring assistance with the following: health and mental health services, educational enhancement/college and career preparation, food insecurity and healthy eating and homecare. 

            The day's activities included a day of golf, followed by cocktails and dinner.  Throughout the evening, a celebration, awards ceremony and a silent auction took place.  Co-chairs of the outing were Matthew Bert Libien, Managing Director at Wells Fargo Advisors, and John Wilkens, Principal of Robert Wilkens Insurance Agency, a World Insurance Company.

            Volunteers were an integral part of the development and implementation of the golf outing.  Thank you to the members of the Golf Committee:  Matthew Bert Libien, John Wilkens, Martin Huguley, Barbara Brensilber, Amy Gazley, Nancy Schonberg, Vicki Sidrow, Franci Steinberg, Nick Makhoul, Janice Hurwitz, Anton Schermer, David Jiang, Amie AbuRustum, and Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer.  These volunteers provided invaluable support: Lauren Dayton, Beverly Fredericks, Carol Goldbetter, Jan Hurewitz, Beverly Quinlan, and Kim Towey.

Assisting agencies with expansion of services for key issues; and

Strengthening agencies by offering professional development, teaching best practices, mentoring leaders, and providing issue-specific training.
