Bergen County Office of Food Security Announces 2023 Awards for Food Pantry Sustainability Grant Program


Hackensack, NJ – County Executive Jim Tedesco, the Board of County Commissioners, and the Bergen County Office of Food Security are excited to announce awards for the 2023 Food Security Task Force Sustainability Grant Program, following passage of resolution 1373-23 by the Bergen County Board of Commissioners. Awards were approved for 56 organizations from across Bergen County, totaling a disbursement of over $630,000 of American Rescue Plan (ARP) dollars.

Bergen Innovation Center Brings Real-World into Classroom


LYNDHURST, N.J – Anchored by newly renovated Bloomberg Finance, cybersecurity and gaming laboratories that will provide students with comprehensive experiential learning opportunities, The Innovation Center at Bergen Community College at the Meadowlands has opened. College President Eric M. Friedman, Ph.D., cut the ribbon on the facility alongside Board of Trustees Chair Dorothy Blakeslee, Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco III and Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur at a morning event on November 29 at the facility.

120 Girl Scouts Participate in Financial Literacy Workshops


On October 29, 2023, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey hosted a day of financial literacy workshops for 120 Girl Scouts at its Jockey Hollow Camp in Mendham, N.J. Representatives from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management volunteered their time to attend the workshops and sponsored the event so girls could attend free of charge. Girl Scouts earned badges tailored to their Girl Scout level and learned skills such as budgeting, saving, money habits and financial planning. Paramus Based CancerCare Awarded Northern NJ Community Foundation Grant


(November 28, 2023; Hackensack, New Jersey) – The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF) joined more than 1,000 community foundations nationwide to celebrate National Community Foundation Week.  During the week, the NNJCF, a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Hackensack, New Jersey, announced $53,803 in grant and scholarship awards were made in 2023.  These grants and scholarships were recommended by a Grants Committee and reviewed and approved by the NNJCF’s Board of Trustees.

KIDS RIDE FREE ON NY WATERWAY FERRIES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

NY Waterway has announced that this holiday season, kids will be able to ride free on all NY Waterway ferry routes between New Jersey and Manhattan beginning Friday, November 24 through Monday, January 1. A maximum of two children, under the age of 12, will be permitted to ride when accompanied by one, single paying adult rider.
