Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care Receives Re-Certification by QOPI? for High-Quality Cancer Care

RIDGEWOOD, NJ, March 29, 2024 – Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care’s outpatient Hematology-Oncology Department has been re-certified for excellence in hematology-oncology by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI?) Certification Program.

The QOPI? Certification Program is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Association of Clinical Oncology and an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). It provides three-year certifications to outpatient hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices for meeting nationally recognized standards for quality and safety in cancer care. Over 300 practices around the world have been certified by QOPI.

To achieve this certification, Valley-Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Care participated in a voluntary comprehensive site assessment and successfully compiled to specified standards and objectives of the QOPI Certification Program. These standards covered:

Treatment planning

Staff training and education

Chemotherapy orders and drug preparation

Patient consent and education

Safe chemotherapy administration

Monitoring and assessment of patient well-being

The QOPI? Certification Program, LLC was launched in January 2010, and over 300 practices are currently certified. This certification for outpatient oncology practices is the first program of its kind for oncology in the United States and in 2016 was expanded internationally. Practices that are QOPI?
