BERGEN COUNTY OPEN SPACE TRUST FUND NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS


Floodplain Protection, Historic Preservation, Land Acquisition, and Municipal Park Improvement grants available in 2025 funding cycle
(HACKENSACK, NJ) – The Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Land Management, announces the 2025 Bergen County Open Space Trust Fund Grant Program. The 2025 grant cycle welcomes applicants seeking aid in three categories: Land Acquisition, Historic Preservation, and Municipal Park Improvements. All Bergen County municipalities and qualified non-profit organizations are invited to apply. All applicants must file a Letter of Intent no later than Friday, March 28th, 2025.

Bergen County Executive and Commissioners Receive Generous Donations for Homeless Shelter


Hackensack – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners visited the Bergen County Homeless Shelter to accept generous donations from the Fort Lee Chinese American Community Association (FLCA), the Cultural Society of Bergen County, and the Philippine Nurses Association of Bergen.

Medical Volunteers Perform Life Changing Surgeries


In the Dominican Republic With Healing the Children New Jersey
February 2, 2025 (Hawthorne, New Jersey) – Healing the Children New Jersey (HTCNJ), a New Jersey based nonprofit, sent a team of 17 medical volunteers to Santo Domingo, Dominican
Republic February 1st for a week-long pediatric orthopedic surgical mission. Led by Dr. Edward Nieuwenhuis, Jr., Dr. Avrum Joffe, Dr. Anthony Delfico, and Trip Administrator Ellen Walsh, the
team is expecting to perform over 40 corrective surgeries on young children born with congenital anomalies.

NY WATERWAY CHRISTENS 500-PASSENGER FERRY JACKIE ROBINSON, THE NEWEST IN ITS FLEET, IN HONOR OF AN AMERICAN ICON


Weehawken, NJ (January 29, 2025) –Yesterday, New York Waterway christened the newest addition to its fleet, Jackie Robinson, in a traditional champagne bottle-breaking ceremony at its Port Imperial Terminal in Weehawken, New Jersey. The 500-seat Jackie Robinson is named in honor of the Brooklyn Dodger legend and civil rights icon who is one of the most important and admired figures in our nation’s history. Service will begin on what would have been Mr. Robinson’s 105th birthday, on January 31st.

Paramedic Students Answer the Call, Earn Honors


PARAMUS, N.J. – With certification exam outcomes exceeding the statewide average, Bergen Community College paramedic science program students have secured the National Conference on EMS “Director’s Award” for the institution. More than 99 percent of Bergen paramedic science students pass their certification and licensing exams compared with 96.7 percent of students across the state. Professor Joanne Piccininni leads Bergen’s paramedic science program, which features a team of two full-time and 16 part-time faculty members.
